as i was reading the newspaper today,this are news that i have came across...

Nearly everyday you see crimes happening all around us...is it going to be like a regular normal thingy we have to go thru everyday? i went on MSN, and one person lost her handphone and couple of other possession of hers because her car got broke into. Many people will call her careless, its her fault for leaving the bag inside the car ( she said so herself:P) and another girl lost her handphone because of a snatch thief. Again, people call her careless because she was using her handphone beside the road.I mean,she should know that the roadside is dangerous, and snatch thieves are always around, looking for victims! its not the snatch thief's fault, its hers!!
What next? That girl got raped!! well,its her fault for having such a nice body! if she was 152 kg,she would be safe,right? LOOK, that guy just got mugged! well,its his fault for being such a wimp, so he actually asked for it! WOW, i don't think this actually happened many many many years back,no?
The thing now is, crime rate keeps on increasing, tho the police report says otherwise, but to me personally, i go on MSN everyday, and i hear new stories about what is happening to my friends. Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine who happened to be mugged. He was walking back from times square at 10:30 pm. It happened EXACTLY beside the main roadside, the one where there are 4 lanes of traffic, and it was a Saturday night. Bukit Bintang on a saturday night at that time, i'm sure many know how pack it can be,right? YET,he was mugged right there, in front of HUNDREDS of people! he yelled for help, but non came to his aid. they had the time to whack him,injure him till he lost consciousness and took away his bag. They had time to do this, but no one caught them? According to him, many came to his aid after the incident, but none during.
Why didn't he receive any help when 5 guys was whacking the shit out of him? I'll tell you why, because Malaysians are afraid. They are afraid that if they did go to his aid, they might be injured instead. Why risk that? Better him being injured than you,right? Imagine if it was you who was being mugged? Perhaps,many of you guys and girls have no idea, how scary it is to have 5 guys surrounding you, threatening you and beating you up. Being alone, the only thing you can do is to shout for help, and praying to god that you do not end up dead. Would you want that to happen to you? Or what if you brother and sisters was one day mugged, beaten to dead at the same place as my friend? Wouldn't you ask yourself, why didn't people came to his aid?
They were 5 of them, at least 30 people could have came out from their car, from the shops nearby, pedestrians, HELL 30 isn't even a lot! if your are so afraid to go nearby and punch them, throw your water bottles, umbrella, High heels (boy those are deadly) ,panties, ANYTHING,then run for your lives! if 30 people threw something at them, it might scare them off at least! Come on, be realistic, even if there was 5 Bruce Lee in that mugging group, 30 people rushing to them with car jacks and steering locks WILL scare them off!!
What is my point here? My point is, if you see anyone in trouble, look to the guy beside you, shout to him " wei diorang tengah belasah budak tu, rompak kot, jom pergi tolong"....and if that person beside you asks the one beside him, you would have more in your group. And perhaps, this small act of kindness would save a life on that day.
If everyone in Malaysia are capable of working together and helping out each other, we can save lives, we can help our mother and fathers,sisters and brothers from being victims of criminals. I am not asking you to catch those criminals, no, i am asking you to at least help other malaysians around you before they become a victim. i am BEGGING you, do not let someone suffer right in front of your eyes. Rather than mourning for their loss after it has happened, help them while their heart still beats.
My deepest condolences to the family of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin. Witnesses have said that they saw her being dragged into her car i believe. If i was there, i would have at least tried something to prevent this from happening. I risk being killed if i went there alone, i know. But, that girl was someone's baby. it was worth dying for.
Malaysians, please help each other.

i couldnt agree more. What we all usually do is just complain. And we'll never get to understand ANYTHING unless it happens to us or worse, ppl we love dearly. I must say that this piece is one of the most brilliant, because the writer itself has experienced these things and luckily he knows tkd(and he has the running skill of God! cola in hand! XD), he was safe.
One day we can say 'luckily it didnt happen to me', next, we might be the one saying,'why is everyone so cold and unhelpful'.

everyone must spread this blog. we must raise against the criminals and robbers. partially reason for increasing crime rate is
1st malaysian "tak apa" attitude gives courage to criminals
2nd police force not effective enough, many crimes got away scot-free and they are increasing in numbers
what can we do? well for one, spread this article around. there need to be awareness all around. kudos V!
totally agree with u garden.. we malaysians must help each another to curb this nuisance.. unfortunately i havent seen or witnessed any of this problems b4 except for a girl being bullied by a male driver that she banged he car against.. that i did stop and help coz she was like so pitiful and..she is hot.. =p eehehhee
but anyways.. i pledge myself that i will help whenever i can but if i have my loved ones with me that cant protect themselves then i would bring my loved ones to saftey FIRST.. =.=" its priority.. cheers mate!

as malaysians we should help one another no matter what! we're not typical anymore..we know what is right and what is wrong so if you see other people in trouble just grap other strangers and ask if he is in trouble..treat the victims like they were ur bro or sis..no harm in helping others indeed..i know theres only a few of us who is willing to help others but we are all malaysian who wants a peaceful place for our future children..
Twice I saw a snatch happening right in front of me, and twice I chased after the perpetrators but I failed to catch up as they had a head start and were faster on bike. I guess being a martial artist gave me that much more courage than the average people. Each time, it was just a single skinny snatch thief on bike targeting ladies. I am pretty sure I can take them. In one of the cases however, the snatch thief passed by an old uncle who tried unsuccessfully to kick down his bike. His technique left much to be desired but I lauded his courage.
But truly, I can't blame the general public to be afraid, especially in a situation you highlighted. I thought someone should round up the people around to turn the table on the bullies too but that is easier said than done. That still take some courage that most Malaysian do not possess.
Many years ago I read a very shocking news of a girl being raped in a train and the other passengers did nothing to help. It was one man who did it. How can anyone do nothing???
You know what the biggest problem is? The reason why most of the people nowaday did not help, whether out of fear or selfishness... is because we are raised this way. Damned...
Yeah garden, malaysians are so afraid these days, can't blame them, they r afraid about their lifes instead of others.. Still, where's the TOLONG MENOLONG spirit?? Itz our freaking country, itz our right to protect the citizen, regardless it works or not.. And yeah, about the nurin case, i did personally kill him myself!!

It's just like you said, Malaysians are afraid... it's not that they don't want to help, but they just wouldn't risk their lives. But Malaysians being afraid, well, that doesn't happen all the time.
I remember once a lady, and her bag was snatched by a motorcyclist. She screamed for help, and the whole crowd started to chase after the bagsnatcher and they managed to catch him (and he got pretty beat up too xD)
And I believe that Malaysians are just not mentally prepared of these kinds of actions, so if something did happen, the first reaction would be like in a state of shock or blur. It's just like the case of the lady being dragged by a car... the incident happened in a crowded area, but my guess would be what I've stated before, which is it's not that we Malaysians do not want to help, but we are just shocked of what's happening infront of our eyes, and sadly, it will only take awhile until we realise of what's happening. ^^;
So I guess it depends on the time and the place of the incidents... well I just hope that we have lesser cases like these. The world is full of sick people and we don't need them! >.<
I've read about the story of the poor child and man... I'm extremely disappointed.
The poor little baby, why are people so ignorant and so... so... untrustworthy? They saw her screaming, the poor thing.
Seriously, if it were me, I would have helped her, not matter how reckless it will make me.
I do hope that one day these things will stop as it's really heart-wrenching, especially for the victim's families.
thank you everyone for your comments.at least now i know that people will want to help if something does go wrong.i know it is easier said than done,wanting to help and actually helping are 2 different things.but at least,people should have the desire to help,thats a start...perhaps,as keelin has pointed out,being a martial artist has a big advantage as we are more confident in handling this kind of situation.but even for a martial artist,being outnumbered 5 to 1 is not simple,which is what we should be doing to the criminals,not them to us.we don't have to look too far ahead,we don't have to help people in gang fights and stuff,simple petty crime like snatch thief especially,those,i am sure we can at least kick their bikes!!
also,some guys now days can get pretty pathetic,all they do is either play DOTA and WOW and they can be so sissy that they prolly dont even know how to throw a PUNCH!!
we must make it like a basic requirement,to be a guy,u need to have a dick and must be able to throw a punch,if not,your not one:P
after posting this,i've been talking to few people on MSN,some said they usually go out in a large group,to prevent this from happening.some said malaysians will only talk,but will never help.some,wanted to catch picture of the event (JAKUN!!) but at least from those who voted, 88% of people around me will want to help:)

i'm glad that finally someone pointed out Malaysian's indifference towards their own people. But the thing is, in KL, there's no "own people", not like kampung areas, which is sad. you just cant trust the one who r sitting next to you. we have heard of so many things like "there are many bad people out there. so be careful. don't be cheated." Well, i first heard it when i was 6, and i believe that's why i always look "cool" (as in not friendly) wherever i go. Maybe this can only explain why females don't help, especially young ones. self protectionism amogst people is getting stronger, and uncontrolled. HOWEVER, there's a hope.

that's a video on 2000 lawyers protesting for a good cause. this kind of things never happened in Malaysia before, not that i've seen before. And this shows that Malaysia is improving, whether you belive it or not. not only physically (with skyscrappers and highways), but also from the sociology point of view.
Malaysia is still a new country. And Bukit Bintang 10 years ago wasn't like the Bukit Bintang now. We are still learning to be good city residents. We, the youngsters, find no difficulties thinking the modern way. but how many percent of people out there are youngsters? evolution takes time, and revolution is painful. we're kind of in between.

speaking of being brought up to be more cautious of the surrounding,it is true.but wouldnt it be easier to protect ourself when there are many of us? not all strangers are dangerous,most strangers are not.chances of you meeting a friendly 'stranger' is higher than a bad nasty dangerous one:)
i think its equally equal =S coz u may not know who's good who's bad~ it is better to take precautions but when u see ppl in trouble, try to help without gettin urself into trouble lo... n what i mean here by trouble is kena scam thinkin they r in trouble but they're actually acting to lure good ppl to help~
and anyway, the protest of the lawyers imo is a nuisance~ they are just afraid getting in trouble themselves later on so better protest now. lawyers are supposed to act according to law, not goin for demonstration just because you dont wana get busted next. learn from the monks, fight for human rights~
